MVRDV selected by the Port of Thessaloniki to revitalise the waterfront

The Port of Thessaloniki has commissioned MVRDV to lead the evolution of the eastern part of the Greek city’s port into a modern urban environment and a multi-character major hub. The project, which will be MVRDV’s first in Greece, aims to raise the international profile of Thessaloniki and enable it to compete on the world stage.

Our Economy…

The Bank of Greece raised its forecast for Greek GDP growth to 2.4% this year, up from 2.1% previously, reflecting an accelerating economic recovery. For 2019, the central bank maintained its expectations of 1.9% growth. Greece’s parliament last month approved the final 2020 budget, which foresees GDP growth of 2.8% this year.

The number of Golden Visa residence permits last year jumped 22% from a year earlier, underscoring the growing popularity of the investment program. According to official data, Greece issued 2,239 permits in 2019, compared with 1,833 a year earlier. In total, 6,304 Golden Visas have been granted since the start of the program in 2014..

Greece has expanded the terms for foreign investors seeking a residency permit in the country. Under the revised rules, investors can apply for a Golden Visa:

 

 

  • by investing €250,000 in property
  • by holding €400,000 in term bank deposits or shares in various investment funds
  • by investing €800,000 directly in Greek stocks, corporate and government bonds.

 Advance tourist bookings are growing at a double-digit rate, signaling another banner year ahead for the Greek tourism industry, Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura said. Στα 1,9 δισ. € ο τζίρος των βραχυχρόνιων μισθώσεων στην Ελλάδα

Στα 1,9 δισ. ευρώ εκτιμώνται τα ετήσια έσοδα από τις βραχυχρόνιες τουριστικές μισθώσεις κατοικιών στην Ελλάδα, σύμφωνα με μελέτη της Grant Thorton, που διενεργήθηκε για λογαριασμό του Ξενοδοχειακού Επιμελητηρίου Ελλάδος (ΞΕΕ) και παρουσιάστηκε πρόσφατα σε κεντρικό ξενοδοχείο της Αθήνας.

Το ποσό αυτό αντιστοιχεί περίπου στο 10% της ετήσιας τουριστικής δαπάνης στη χώρα μας και αφορά 126.000 κατοικίες που μισθώνονται, εκ των οποίων οι 76.000 είναι απολύτως ενεργές, ενώ στο μητρώο της Ανεξάρτητης Αρχής Δημοσίων Εσόδων, έχουν δηλωθεί μόλις 50.000. Τα δε μεγέθη των βραχυχρόνιων μισθώσεων, αυξάνονται με ετήσιο ρυθμό της τάξης του 25%!!!
