After my recent olive grove/olive oil manufacturing explorations in the Peloponnese, I decided to spend some more time in the rugged mainland part of Greece, called the Peloponnese. The area is rich in culinary and cultural history. It’s also the area of Greece that my ancestors are from. So one Saturday morning, a group of us piled into several cars and made the two hour drive to Porto Heli, a small peninsula in the northeast Peloponnese. The area is called the Greek Riviera,
Επίτευγμα Μηχανικής θεωρείται η κατασκευή του Αρχαίου αυτού υδραγωγείου. Αξίζει κανείς να αφιερώσει χρόνο να δει αυτό το βίντεο. Το έργο, καλείται Ευπαλίνειο Όρυγμα από το όνομα του Μηχανικού του, του Ευπαλίνη.
Το πιο χρήσιμο έργο λοιπόν, του τύραννου της Σάμου, Πολυκράτη, ήταν το υδραγωγείο με τη θαυμαστή σήραγγα μήκους 1.036 μέτρων που διαπερνά το βουνό και προκαλεί δέος ακόμα και σήμερα: Τη σχεδίασε και την ολοκλήρωσε ο Ευπαλίνος από τα Μέγαρα.
Υπολόγισε τόσο σωστά την «πορεία» της, ώστε τα δυο συνεργεία που ξεκίνησαν ταυτόχρονα από τις δυο άκρες του βουνού, συναντήθηκαν κάπου στη μέση, με απόκλιση γύρω στα 60 εκατοστά του μέτρου. Είναι το ονομαστό «Ευπαλίνειο όρυγμα» που κατασκευάστηκε τον ΣΤ’ π.Χ. αιώνα και σώζεται ακόμα. Continue reading »
It was a very interesting and short exhibition that one in Athens, Greece. It is expected that tourism industry it will be the challenge for greeks. Greece, is one of the most beautiful places in the world, with unique ancient monuments. At Peloponnese region can anyone visit: The Ancient Theatre of Epidavros, The Ancient Olympia the place Olympic Games were born, Ancient Corinth, Sparta, Mycines, Tyrintha etc, and stay at the place where the science born.

Archeological Sections excavated in order to check out if there are any findings. The plot is in the center of Peiraius port.
In the 5th century b.c. it was well known as the most famous all over the world. Athenians were using this to rule the Aegean sea, the west cost of Anatolia (known then as Ionians) and establish their trading all over the mediterranean sea.
Shipping company, the owner of the plot, is planning to develop a seventh floor office building.
The fieldwork fulfilled under the supervision of the Greek Ministry of Culture. It is very optimistic that a private company decides to invest in our country these days.
Starting a new project in Greece know, is a really opportunity…
