Το πρώτο αρχιτεκτονικό έργο του Diébédo Francis Kéré ήταν η κατασκευή ενός σχολείου στη γενέτειρά του, το Γκάντο, απομακρυσμένο χωριό στη Μπουρκίνα Φάσο στη Δυτική Αφρική.
Ο αρχιτέκτονας έλαβε το κορυφαίο στον κόσμο αρχιτεκτονικό βραβείο Pritzker, το οποίο απονέμεται ετησίως σε εν ζωή αρχιτέκτονες από το Ίδρυμα Hyatt.
Πρόκειται για την κορυφαία τιμή της αρχιτεκτονικής, εν μέρει για την αφοσίωσή του στην κοινότητά του και τις ρίζες του.
Με το βραβείο, ο Kéré γίνεται ο πρώτος μαύρος αρχιτέκτονας και ο πρώτος αρχιτέκτονας από την Αφρική, που κερδίζει το βραβείο Pritzker στα 43 χρόνια ιστορίας του.
«Μεγάλωσα σε ένα χωριό, στο οποίο δεν υπήρχε νηπιαγωγείο, αλλά η κοινότητα ήταν η οικογένειά σου» είπε ο Kéré, σύμφωνα με τη βιογραφία του που δημοσιεύθηκε στην ιστοσελίδα του Pritzker Prize.
«Θυμάμαι το δωμάτιο, στο οποίο καθόταν η γιαγιά μου και έλεγε ιστορίες με λίγο φως, ενώ στριμωχνόμασταν ο ένας κοντά στον άλλο και η φωνή της μέσα στο δωμάτιο μας περιέβαλλε, καλώντας μας να πλησιάσουμε και να διαμορφώσουμε ένα ασφαλές μέρος. Αυτή ήταν η πρώτη μου αίσθηση για την αρχιτεκτονική» τόνισε.
Ο πρόεδρος της επιτροπής του Pritzker Prize, Τομ Πρίτσκερ δήλωσε ότι τα κτίρια του Kéré «επιδεικνύουν ομορφιά, σεμνότητα, τόλμη και εφευρετικότητα».
«Ολόκληρο το έργο του Francis Kéré μας δείχνει τη δύναμη της υλικής φύσης που έχει τις ρίζες στη θέση της» αναφέρει η αναφορά της κριτικής επιτροπής. «Τα κτίριά του είναι για και με τις κοινότητες, προέρχονται από αυτές τις κοινότητες – στην κατασκευή τους, τα υλικά τους, τα προγράμματά τους και τους μοναδικούς χαρακτήρες τους. Είναι δεμένα με το έδαφος στο οποίο βρίσκονται και με τους ανθρώπους που ζουν μέσα τους. Έχουν παρουσία χωρίς επιτήδευση και αντίκτυπο που διαμορφώνεται από τη χάρη».
Κάποια από τα κτίρια που έχει σχεδιάσει ο Francis Kéré είναι το κέντρο επισκεπτών στο Εθνικό Πάρκο του Μπαμακό και το Ινστιτούτο Τεχνολογίας στη Κοντουγκού, στη Μπουρκίνα Φάσο.
«Δεν θέλω να μιλώ ευθέως για τον ρατσισμό, αλλά αυτό είναι ένα πεδίο, στο οποίο χρειάζεσαι πολλές δεξιότητες» είπε στον Guardian μετά τη νίκη. «Πρέπει πραγματικά να είσαι δυνατός και τυχερός, καθώς οι διαγωνισμοί δεν είναι πάντα τόσο ανοιχτοί. Ελπίζω ότι οι νέοι στην Αφρική θα με δουν και θα ξέρουν ότι αυτός είναι ένας πιθανός δρόμος και για αυτούς» τόνισε.
Το διεθνές βραβείο, το οποίο απονέμεται κάθε χρόνο σε ζωντανούς αρχιτέκτονες για σημαντικά επιτεύγματα, θεσμοθετήθηκε από την οικογένεια Pritzker στο Σικάγο μέσω του Ιδρύματος Hyatt το 1979 και συχνά αναφέρεται ως «Νόμπελ Αρχιτεκτονικής».

Italian architects Massimo Gnocchi and Paolo Danesi designed Mountain Refuge as a prefabricated cabin-style micro-home built from plywood.
The duo has founded a startup company to find a partner to make their prefabricated concept a reality
Gnocchi and Danesi designed Mountain Refuge as a contemporary twist on typical cabin typology that would help the occupants find a “connection with nature”.
Mountain Refuge is modular, so the design could stand alone as one 24-metre-square space, or include an optional second module to add 12 square metres of floor space.
The cabin has space for a kitchenette with a sink and stove, and could also feature a small but comfortable bathroom with a shower tucked away in one corner.
A deck could run around the external perimeter of the cabin to give its occupants a place to enjoy the weather.
Gnocchi and Danesi designed Mountain Refuge to not require foundations, but if the site required, a thin concrete slab could be used for some locations.

και κατασκευή κτιρίων nZEB παραπέμπει σε βέλτιστο σχεδιασμό των παθητικών χαρακτηριστικών του κτιρίου και μέγιστη αξιοποίηση Α.Π.Ε., μέχρι και σήμερα οι κατ΄εξοχήν απαραίτητες Τεχνικές Οδηγίες του Τεχνικού Επιμελητήριου Ελλάδος (Τ.Ο.Τ.Ε.Ε.), αυτές του Βιοκλιματικού Σχεδιασμού και της διαστασιολόγησης και αξιολόγησης των συστημάτων Ανανεώσιμων Πηγών Ενέργειας (Α.Π.Ε.), δεν έχουν εκδοθεί.
